Sanderson to Seminole Canyon State Park, TX
81 miles (Total Miles = 1,230)
Nicole has decided to apply to become a Border Patrol agent. First, though, she must prove that she can pull a set of old tires down a dirt road, smoothing the surface such that any footprints passing across can be identified and tracked. Now Nicole being Nicole means that this task must be done by bicycle. We’re pretty sure that if we’d given her a running start, she would have pulled it off.
Border patrol, border patrol, border patrol. This is the song we sing when pedaling along these bordering roads. Zoom, whoosh, swoosh. This is the noise we hear as the green and white go speeding by. Boring, boring, boring. This is the thought we think while we watch them drive slowly along the paralleling dirt roads, heads out windows, looking for signs of trespass. I sure hope they have good chiropractic ’cause 8 hours of that has gotta hurt.
Speaking of hurt, today did. Eighty-one miles with eighty-one percent of the ride being into a headwind. I know, boring old headwind talk again. But it’s amazing how that nice cool Spring breeze can suddenly grow fangs and become your worst enemy, biting at your face and ears and spirit. Damn you, foul wind, and stop blowing all that sand and grit into our tent while you’re at it, will you?

It looks lonely out there……
