Idaho: I Must Admit

01 to 09 Oct 2011

Sun Valley, Idaho

I must admit that I didn’t write a single word of this blog when we were in Sun Valley.  Too much other fun stuff to do, including the day when we didn’t get out of our PJs nor the house until deep into the afternoon.  You see, Sun Valley isn’t always sunny and on that particular day there was none to be had, the rain pounding down until we finally acquiesced that to go outside meant gearing up in our waterproof shoes and rain jackets.  Which we did, venturing into the town of Hailey to go where else but Starbucks.  You see, I was in the midst of interviewing for a job and Starbucks was my line to the outside world, its free wi-fi a necessary evil while we were still, technically, on holiday.

This is not to say that we didn’t get sun while in Sun Valley.  In fact, our first few days there were absolutely gorgeous, picture-perfect Autumn days.  And our last days there saw snow falling in the higher elevations as well as on top of our heads, courtesy of an early-glimpse-of-winter hike in the surrounding mountains.  What a wonderful treat, indeed.  And on top of all the lovely scenery and hiking, we were being treated to a luxurious stay at our friend Terri’s guesthouse.  What was supposed to be a simple stopover on our way to or from Colorado turned into a slightly longer stay, our road-trip to the Mile High city being cancelled in light of my need to be available for interviewing.  Ah, the trappings of the real world turned on their head into a pleasurable adventure.  This is definitely the way to ease back into things.
